This game really has potential. Its graphically pleasing, and I like the effects you gave the player when moving, gives it a 3D look. As this is critique, I obviously have to point out the parts that could be improved so I will.
Music: This is the type of game that you expect some awesome music to be playing in the background as you blow some stuff up, but there wasn't any. If dA wouldnt allow it then I understand. But just incase, Newgrounds offer music that you can use for free in your games, you only need to credit the creator in there somewhere
SFX: Keeping on the subject of sound, I really think some alternating sound effect would help.
With so much blowing up on the screen at the same time, the constant explosion sounds can get annoying. If you were to add a few different explosion sounds and have them chosen randomly once an enemy is destroyed then it would add a bit of variation and would be less noticable.
Enemys: The enemys were fun to blow up, however I thought the larger ones could be improved a little. For example, they dont seem to move at all when I played through, they just float there in the same place and fire at me as soon as I'm in front of them. It means theres nothing I can really do about them, no tactic the player can use, just have to take the damage as well as give it. I think if they had more side-to-side movement it would have been more of a fight rather than standing in the line of fire.
Health: I guess this IS an endurance game, seeing how long a player can last, so this is fine. However, the health bar went down so slowly that it was hardly noticable, so I found myself not fearing the enemy at all and just driving through them with guns blazing.
If the health was to deplete a little faster, I think it would make the player a little more concious about the enemy.
Overall: Overall this is a pretty fun game that looks very promising. The graphics and visuals are very nice to look at and give the game its signature look, the programming of the game seems to be bug free as far as I found and I love how you made the players ship seem 3D in it's movement. Theres also a nice selection of pick-ups and alternate guns to find throughout the game.
The main problems I found was the music and sound effects, the rest are just parts I felt could be a bit better, but were still fine
Graphics are good, it's stylish, program works well, but I didn't enjoy this game. It feels as though your just wading through stuff, there no point trying to dodge anything so theres no tension. You just move left or right and spray bullets. So may enemies come down the screen that they have no significance, you just hold down fire, move a bit and the score goes up. But the score doesn't matter because you didn't do anything to get it.
The sound effects are constant so they have no meaning either, just noise. It goes bang when you shoot something, but its almost impossible to say what the something was, so its just a bang
I couldn't offer more for this game as this is just a experimental/tutorial-based game, just to get my hands dirty with ActionScript stuff... but thanks anyway...
the presentation aint bad, but the game in the other hand is total madness you don't know what's going on you just die not knowing who hit you, which sucks.
